Dying Before Your Time - June 30, 2017

Ecclesiastes 7:17
Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

Today's Thought: God ordains a time for everything, but He cuts off your time whenever necessary.

Many times we hear stories of Christians going home to heaven because of their stiff-necked attitude toward God. While Ecclesiastes 7 talks about the self-righteousness and wickedness being the ruin of a man, the thought is the cutting of a person's pre-determined time because of his own foolishness, permissive will, and rebellious heart.

The wisest man ever lived, except Jesus, acknowledges the importance sovereign power of God over man. It is the Lord who ordered the steps of a good man. However, there is an exemption to that. As God gives us the free will to what we want even if it runs contrary to God's will, let us also be reminded that as Sovereign God, He has the power to break our will for us to follow Him. And the ultimate end of our foolishness and wickedness would be dying before our time.

With this stinging message from Ecclesiastes 7, should we pursue our will and die before our time or follow the Lord, be fruitful and die according as God wills it that we bear fruit that remain til eternity?
