Our Understanding of God's Will - September 27, 2017

Luke 24:45

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Today's Thought: Let us make it a priority to know the will of God in our lives.

Solomon was presented with a blank check from the Lord. He could have anything he wanted to have. But Solomon had his priorities in the right place (at this time). He chose to have wisdom over riches, power and fame. He wanted to have the heart to be able to judge or rule his people well. He knew exactly what was needed at the moment because he was not thinking of himself alone, but how the Lord was going to use for His glory and honor.

We all need the guidance from the Lord for us to walk worthy of our calling. The Lord does not send fire from heaven or visions that we may understand His will in our lives. The Word of God provides us with the wisdom to know the mind of the Lord and what He wants us to be. The Holy Spirit that lives in every believer gives us the guidance and direction to live according as the Lord commands in His Word.

We should not live life without knowing the will of God in our lives. We don't need to rely on our emotions, on signs and wonders for the direction of our lives. We need to have the understanding of the Word of God for in it is the word of life. We often taken for granted the greatest resource of wisdom for our lives - the Word of God.
