Psalm 1:6
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Today's Thought: The Lord preserves the way of His children, but destroys the works of the ungodly.
Al Capone ruled Chicago during the Prohibition as the co-founder and boss of the Chicago Outfit. He wielded influence on the politics of the city and the neighboring places, control over the police force and the entire community. He was also very rich from his illegal activities. It seemed that Al Capone won't ever go down, but at the end of it, he ended in prison and died of cardiac arrest as result of his neurotic syphilis.
This story tells us clearly that those who live ungodly shall also perish in such manner. As the saying goes: crime does not pay. In the eyes of the Lord, favor and blessings are always for those who serve Him faithfully. The justice of the Lord is always served to those who are living life for their own alone. While ungodliness seems good for a time, it will soon pay off harsh consequences and wages.
If we want to live longer, we must fear the Lord and serve Him with all our heart. The long prolongs our days if we will be faithful to the mandate He has given us. Let us not be slack in our obedience toward the Lord.
