Daniel 5:27
TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
Today's Thought: We must be ready to give account of our lives before the Lord.
Daniel 5 speaks of the doom of Belshazzar. It was an utter devastation of the kingdom and the death of the king himself as well as those who attended his party. The Bible is very clear on the predicate of the destruction and judgment: Belshazzar did not give reverence to the Lord, lest to the sacred vessels used in the temple which he defiled with wines and strong drink during his lavish party.
We must remember that the Lord is a God of knowledge. He weighs all actions and decisions. That which seemed good and esteemed by men may be abomination in the sight of the Lord. The Lord looks more than appearance as men do. God looks at our hearts and He weights all our actions and decisions based on the intent of our hearts.
Knowing the terror of the Lord, it is should be our desire that when we are weighed by the Lord, He will not find us wanting, but He will find us enough. Even more, as much as we know that we can never meet the standard of holiness of the Lord, let us seek His grace and dwell in His mercy and compassion.
