The Coming of Christ - December 17, 2017

Luke 21:29-31
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

Today's Thought: The return of Christ should affect the way we live our lives.

Interest of people on the return of Christ changed over time, maybe as a result of several people trying to predict the same. The "88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988" sold million of copies, but the follow up "88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1989" did not.

The fig trees were the last to bud in the late spring. This indicates that if leaves are appearing, summer is close. Fig trees were stable of the Jewish economy and many people depended on the same.

While this does not mean that the fig tree is the timeline for the return of Christ, but it says that as surely as the fig tree buds and summer is come, so does Christ. His return may tarry, but it shall surely come.
