Proverbs 31:32
If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine upon hand upon thy mouth.
Today's Thought: Acceptance and humility is needed if you have mistakes, not explanations.
"You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions. Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law." This is part of the Miranda warning which is recited by law enforcers if they apprehended a criminal. It is part of the safeguard that most constitutions of the world provide.
This is also true in the sight of God. When we have done foolish things in the sight of the Lord, there is no need for us to explain ourselves and prove that they we are innocent. Job clearly understands that he could not hide any thought from the Lord. With the omnipresence and omniscience of the Lord, we should not try to press our explanations but acknowledge out mistakes and sins before the Lord. As much as this is true with us, men, the mercy of the Lord always comes when there is humility and acceptance.
Correction comes when we wholehearted accept our mistakes. It will never come if we try to reason out and blame others, consequences, or even the weather. Correction comes to the man who is willing to be corrected, but it will never be for the man who does not accept his failure.
