Deuteronomy 29:5
And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
Today's Thought: The blessing of the Lord comes in unnoticeable things.
When we talk of blessings, we would often associate it with new good things given to us. While blessings do not just comprise tangible things, more than often these tangibles become the standard of how people gauge blessings from the Lord. And not only that, more noticeable things become standard of blessings.
But this was not the case with the nation of Israel during the wilderness journey. They experienced remarkable miracles from the Lord. They had seen it all. But in this passage of the scripture, the Lord did not talk about the parting of the Red Sea, the plagues on Egypt or the manna from heaven. Instead, the Lord told them how their clothes did not wax old or their shoes worn out.
We may not have all new good things, but we always have the blessings of our Lord. A pair of shoes that should have worn out long ago still looks good. No need to buy a new one. A car that has thousands of mileage on its speedometer, though cranky, is still working.A savings from the Lord. A phone that has experienced several falls is still fine. No need for a new one. And a list of all others. The Lord has blessed us with all these blessings - but we just don't notice them.
