Revelation 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Today's Thought: Serving the Lord is a long road to travel.
Foxe's Book of Martyrs is filled with accounts on how Christians of long ago endured pain and hardships as they serve God. It was not an easy road for them as they suffered persecution and even death. But they steadfastly continued in the commands of God and the faith of Jesus.
Christian service is not a holiday in the beach or a walk at the park. It is a life to be endured with joy and patience. You are going to fight against yourself and to die daily in suppressing the flesh wherein you dwell. You are going to fight the wiles of the devil seeking to devour you. You are going to be steadfast as others mock and speak of all manners of evil against you. This is the real Christian service.
But through all these, there is the promise of joy, the promise of companionship, and the promise of heaven. God rewards the service done unto Him for they are they not in vain.
