Fears of Our Lives - November 5, 2017

Judges 6:12
And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

Today's Thought: A rightly positioned faith diminishes the power of fear over our lives.

There was a story often told by a preacher. A mother asked her 5-year old son to get tomato soap from the kitchen. But the child objected because it was too dark. The mother told the son that it will fine as Jesus is in the kitchen. The little boy went to the kitchen, opened the door and shouted: Jesus can you hand me the tomato soup?

In the text that we have, the Lord proclaims Gideon to be a man of valor. But Gideon could not fathom what the Lord is speaking of. He told the Lord that their clan is the weakest in all of Manasseh and he is the least of his father's house. Gideon was afraid of the Midianites and he asked for signs to be sure of God's power.

We all have fears in our lives, but the Lord plans great things for us if we will just believe, trust and obey Him in our lives. He is the same God who had done great things in the past, in the lives of other men. With the Lord's help, we will surely arrive at what the Lord thinks of us.
