Luke 24:36-37
And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
Today's Thought: The Lord has given us peace that the world cannot give.
When Jesus died His disciples were in terror, they were afraid what would happen to them now that their Master was already executed. They did no believe Him on His promise of ressurection. The angels told them about it, the women at the tomb recalled to them what happened and the disciples from Emmaus had narrated the same.
D.L. Moody said:
They say that a man cannot make a will now that lawyers cannot break. I will challenge them to break Christ’s will. Let them try it. No judge or jury can set that aside. Christ rose to execute His own will. He left His peace and His joy for every true believer, and no power on earth can take it from him who trusts.
If we don't believe in the promises of the Lord, then we are going to forfeit the blessing of peace in our lives. It is only through believing in the goodness of God and the promises He has made that we can live in peace and not in terror.
