Compassion to Those Who Return - January 15, 2018

2 Chronicles 30:9

For if ye turn again unto the Lord, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

Today's Thought: God is always willing to accept and embrace those who come unto Him with a humble heart.

In His omniscience God knows that one day man will turn away from Him. Before God created the world, He knew that Adam would fall, that Israel would fail Him, but God continued on. And because of God's unfailing and everlasting love, He did not just create the world, the sinful man, but He also designed a plan on how to rescue man. For me, it is the grandest expression of love.

As Christians, we are only trying to grow through God's grace, but we will still fail. And in our failure, there is a promise of God - that He will accept us. There is only one requirement to this promise - if we will turn again unto the Lord. In all our failures, we only need to come unto God as we are, no conditions, no pretension, no self righteousness. Just come.

The good thing about God is His promise of conditionally accepting us. Why? Because this is the nature of God. He is a gracious and merciful God.
