Luke 14:27
And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Today's Thought: The true marks of discipleship is suffering for Christ.
When I was younger, I was once asked what would I choose: my education or my faith in Christ Jesus. It was one of the hardest question one could take in an exam. Weeks leading to that question, I already knew of the inevitable. I asked grace from God, and grace overflowed. That day I prepared my answer, but still it was not that easy. That day I understood what it meant to be a disciple.
Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ, Dietrich Bonhoeffer said. Christians who don't want to suffer and fight for their faith, lest to stand for it amidst of the oppositions of the world are not worthy of the suffering Christ nor of the salvation He paid dearly. Real discipleship is bearing the marks of Christ however hard it could be.
You cannot be a real Christian if you will not bear the suffering of Jesus Christ. You have to choose between Him or the devil, between Him or the world. You cannot just stand at the middle.
