James 1:22
Today's Thought: The real measure of what we hear is our application thereof.
Among business leaders a paradigm shift has been made in terms of evaluating human resources - from formal education to experiential learning. While they understood the importance of formal learning, experiential learning provides a concrete and solid foundation for a better form of knowledge. It is by doing that the learning of the person is enhanced and widened.
The word of God is not meant to be read or heard, it is design to be applied in life. You will not know the joy of giving if you will no give. You will not know the blessing of obedience if you will not obey. You will not experience love of worship if you will not go to church. Hearing the word of God is good, but it is not end point of all. The goal is for us to apply the word of God.
If we continue to just listen to the preacher without doing something out of what we hear, we are just fooling ourselves. It would be disastrous for a man who had been diagnosed with cancer not to do something about it. We may become deaf of all the good things we hear from the word of God, but our life will be filled with good intentions only if we don't live out what we hear.
But ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
