Refusing to Listen - February 26, 2018

2 Chronicles 33:10

And the Lord spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.

Today's Thought: When you rebel against God, you can do all you want but you will lose.

Manasseh was another king of Israel who walked with much pride in his heart and rebellion in his mind against the Lord. The Bible says "He did evil in the sight of the Lord." Manasseh was raised by a godly father, King Hezekiah, but he rebelled against the Lord. His rebellion was more shocking than that of Nebuchadnezzar or any other heathen kings for He knew the Lord.

Several Christians are like Manasseh. They know about the Lord, how wonderful and marvelous the love of God is, how gracious and compassionate the Lord is. But they still rebelled against God. They continue in their sins even if they know the Lord is not happy with them. The problem with Manasseh is the same problem Christians do have: being influenced by the godless world, of godless friends, of godless and unbelieving lovers who took their hearts away from God like Solomon, of godless desires.

The Lord spoke but Manasseh refused to listen. When we continue to rebel against the Lord, and not turn away from our wicked ways, the result of resisting the will of the Lord is humiliating and painful. The Lord sent Manasseh the Assyrian army to subdue them. This will so happen to Christians who continue to resist the Lord.
