Luke 21:8
Today's Thought: Do not be deceived but beware of the warnings of the Lord.
In December 1985, several people in Washington DC received an exciting mail from Flagship International. They were told that they received a free ticket to the upcoming Washington Redskins and Cincinnati Bengals football game. Roughly a hundred people went to Washington Convention Center to watch the game. However, when they arrived at the Center, they were arrested by police officers. The mail notices were actually sent to wanted criminals.
The devil uses deception to keep the children of the Lord from serving God. It is the mastery of the devil since the Garden of Eden. Paul says that "the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."
The devil promises all and everything. He done this to Christ and he is still doing among Christians. As Dr. John Rice reminded us that "All Satan’s apples have worms." Yes, he may promise the apple, but only to deceive us.
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
