The Coming of Christ - October 20, 2017

Luke 21:27-28
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Today's Thought: Rejoice for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Dr. Henry Guinness wrote on the Second Coming:
“I heard The Messiah with great delight last evening. Now if a man had asked me after the performance had proceeded a couple of hours how long I thought it would continue, I would have answered, ‘About five minutes.’ ‘But,’ the man might have expostulated, ‘how can that be? It is in full swing, has been going on for two hours, and I see no reason why it should not continue for two hours longer. How do you know it will be over in five minutes?’ Then I should have answered him, ‘Because I have the score.

The Bible is full of promises on the return of Christ. In fact, there are more references to the return of Jesus than of His first appearing. It seems that the world is bleak and there is no chance, but the return of Christ is the surest thing we could ever have. There is something to look forward to.

With the knowledge of His coming, we should rejoice. With the coming of the Lord, we should also be ready to give an account before the Lord. How are we going to face the Lord if we failed Him? Can we get excited of His coming if we are doing His will?
