John 19:34
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Today's Thought: The blood of Christ is always enough to quench the wrath of God.
When Lincoln's body was brought from Washington to Illinois, it passed through Albany and it was carried through the street. They say a black woman stood upon the curb and lifted her little son as far as she could reach above the heads of the crowd and was heard to say to him, "Take a long look, honey. He died for you".
But there's a body that lay dead on the cross who spoke of how He died for you and me. Jesus Christ did not just die for the cause of a nation, but He died to save my poor soul going to hell. It was the shed blood on the cross that gave the ticket to heaven where He prepares a mansion. It was the kind of death that opened life for you and me.
With the thought of Christ death and how He died for you and me, we should ask ourselves: What have we done in return? What have we given back to Him who loved and died for us? Let those questions linger in your mind and let the shed blood on the cross engulf your thoughts.
