Psalm 81:10
I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth and I will fill it.
Today's Thought: Satisfaction comes only from the Lord.
Gypsy Smith tells of pushing through in the Scotland streets and feeling a tug at his sleeves. At first he thought someone was trying to get ahead. The tug came more persistently and he saw a little girl in rags, holding something wrapped in dirty paper. “What is it, my dear?” “I want you to have my candy.” “Why?” “Oh sir, because we have a new daddy at home. He was never sober, but last Saturday, he was sober because he sat in your meeting, and now he is so wonderful at home.” Gypsy Smith took her and the candy and hugged her, with tears down his cheeks. The little girls was so grateful for “a new daddy” that she was willing to give up candy which was precious to a child.
Several Christians do not understand what really satisfies them. They forget to understand that all these things in life they hold on to are nothing compared to the satisfaction that comes from their Father in heaven. As a result, they cling more to their candies than to enjoy the blessing of the Lord. The Lord reminds us on how he has brought us of sin and given has salvation. With this thought, it is enough for us to know how the Lord can open our mouth and fill us with anything He wants to.
When we realize the importance of God, we also realize the nothingness of what we have and what we are. It is only through the understanding of what God can do in our lives that brings us satisfaction through Him.
