1 Peter 5:8
Today's Thought: Only a vigilant soldier will be able to fight the devil.
The Sentinel's Creed of the honor guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery is a reminder of duty and vigilance. It says: My dedication to this sacred duty is total and whole-hearted. In the responsibility bestowed on me never will I falter. And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection.
We are commanded a great significant task by God; vigilance is the only way for us to achieve this. Our enemy is ready to destroy us anytime; and he does this when we least expect it, when our guards are down. The devil is a cheater. He does not have a gentleman's rule not to attack unguard soldiers. He takes advantages when we are slacking in our duty and vigilance.
Let us be reminded today that if we want to be victorious in the task we do have from the Lord, we must always be ready. Like the honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, we must not falter in our responsibility. We must never allow our readiness to fight and our watchful eye to falter.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
