Jesus Christ, the Metropolis of the Bible - March 3, 2018

Luke 24:44

And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Today's Thought: Our duty is to glorify and magnify the name of Jesus in our lives.

A veteran Welsh preacher advised the new minister on the preaching about Jesus. He said: Young man, from every town and every village, and every little hamlet in England, wherever it may be, there is a road to London. And so from every text in Scripture, there is a road to the metropolis of the Scriptures, that is Christ. And my dear brother, your business is when you go to a text, to say, ‘Now what is the road to Christ?’ and then preach a sermon, running along the road to the great metropolis—Christ. And I have never yet found a text that has not got a road to Christ in it.

In our lives, we must endeavor to make Christ known. He should have the preeminence in our lives. We should be able to declare the goodness of God in our lives and how He had made a difference. As much as we have seen and tasted the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ when we receive the gift of salvation, we also live for Him alone.

Paul clearly summarizes everything when he said: For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. We may know all things under the sun but if we don't have the full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, vanity of vanities.
