Colossians 3:13
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
Today's Thought: Let us ask God to help us forgive those who have hurt us.
Corrie Ten Boom was a Holocaust survivor. She had been tortured and brutally treated by his captors, Nazi Germany. However, Corrie spent the remainder of her life sharing of the Lord's goodness and how she survived that heart-wrenching experience of her life. Most of the best writings she had were about the wonderful essence of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is not instantaneous; it is a process, sometimes. We must desire to forgive and ask God to help us in doing so. Let us speak of God's forgiveness and forgiveness itself and pray for those who have hurt us. Eventually, we will find that the pain will grow less until we realize we have truly extended forgiveness. Once Corrie was approached by a man who asked her to forgive him. He was one of the ruthless soldier. When she discovered about it, she knew she must ask God's help.
On our own, we are not capable of forgiving. We can only forgive when we ask God to help us. The freedom of forgiveness will allow us to give Christ the chance to work on us.
